Minneapolis personal injury attorney Marlene J. Goldenberg has been named one of Minnesota Lawyer’s Up & Coming Attorneys for 2014.
Every year, Minnesota Lawyer recognizes attorneys in their first 10 years of practice who have distinguished themselves by their achievements. Criteria for the award include leadership service to the community and the profession, achievement as in-house counsel, and other professional accomplishments.
Marlene dedicates most of her time to assisting clients who are injured by defective pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices. In just her first 2 years of practice, Marlene has done a tremendous amount of work to fight preemption defenses by litigating nearly 200 cases against manufacturers of defective medical devices and fighting motions based on federal preemption in five separate jurisdictions.
In doing so, Marlene has developed great expertise in the area of federal preemption – a doctrine that precludes many individuals who were injured by generic drugs and class III medical devices from pursuing a remedy against the manufacturers of those products.
Marlene shares her expertise on preemption with others by teaching Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses on preemption and the Medtronic Infuse litigation. She also volunteers at the Children’s Law Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities.
This year’s group of Up & Coming attorneys will be honored alongside the Unsung Legal Heroes on September 9, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis. Honorees will also be published in a special section of Minnesota Lawyer on September 15, 2014.
